Hailey Bieber Takes the Ultra Miniskirt to New Extremes

Hailey Bieber just debuted a new bob, showcasing her fresh chop with an Instagram selfie and the succinct caption, “Oops.” And her hair isn’t the only thing that’s gotten shorter: Hailey has spent much of 2023 thus far in the highest of hemlines, having kicked off the new year in a cut-out Mugler minidress. 

The supermodel and beauty mogul wore a printed vintage Versace style and a naked mini from Fancì Club in the days that followed. Then came a raw-edged denim skirt from Miaou, which was as thigh-grazing as that viral Miu Miu micro skirt from the spring 2022 collection.

In the occasional nod to practicality, Hailey has worn tights with her ultra-high hemlines—she added stockings to a ruffled Alexandre Vauthier couture look at a party a fortnight ago, and wore Calzedonia tights with an ultra-short Misbhv pleated mini earlier this week. 

But she’ll go bare-legged, too, as proven by her most recent outing with her husband Justin. Hailey did date-night in a skirt so short as to be barely visible, styled with a preppy grey jumper over a crisp white shirt, a boxy leather jacket and sculptural stilettos. 

The legs-for-days outfit called to mind Kendall Jenner’s adventurous NYE look: the model sported an MM6 Maison Margiela long-sleeved bodysuit and 20-denier Calzedonia tights, worn with Saint Laurent slingbacks and no skirt. Is 2023 the year of the high hemline, or no hemline at all?
